Side effects

Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. Reductil ® is generally well tolerated. The majority of side effects are mild to moderate and of a transient nature and can generally be explained by its pharmacology.

The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with Reductil. Because a side effect is stated here, it does not mean that all people using Sibutramine will experience that or any side effect.
· Headache
· Dry mouth
· Difficulty in sleeping (insomnia)
· Depression
· Impotence
· Sweating
· Disturbances of the gut such as diarrhoea, constipation, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain
· Pins and needles (paraesthesia)
· Awareness of your heartbeat (palpitations)
· Alteration in taste
· Hot flushes
· Seizures
· Lightheadedness
· Decrease in the number of platelets in the blood (thrombocytopenia)
· High blood pressure (hypertension)
· Increased heart rate (tachycardia)
· Anxiety
· Aggravation of haemorrhoids
· Kidney disorders

In comparison to the side effect potential of other central- acting weight- reducing agents it is important to note that Reductil ® lacks the potential for abuse, neurotoxicity or valvular heart disease.
